“Are we going home now?”

You know you have found a good place to live when you’re on a weekend trip to the mountains and your toddler keeps asking when we please go back home.

He only asked once per day or so, and never did it with the intention to make a scene, but it was evident that he needed some reassurance that we’d return to his beloved new house eventually.

He never asked us to go home in the old apartment.

We never looked forward to being home ourselves either. All our trips were escapes. Now we actually try to find reasons to stay home…l

Today, when we drove home from the Alps, we all felt a little excited. We were looking forward to being home again.

I never thought that this day would come, but it feels great to finally feel at home in Bavaria.
