You know what?

I put my son to bed today, and I always lie next to him for a bit until he falls asleep. It’s our daily routine.

“You know, what?” I asked him this evening.

“Yes,” he answered – very convincingly. As if he really knew ‘what’.

I was a bit confused. He wasn’t supposed to answer this one…

“So ‘what’ then?” I asked him, just to see what he was on about.

“That, that, that, eeeehm…” he stuttered and stumbled, trying to find his line of thought.

“That you think I’m really sweet, and you really love me.”

I laughed hard.

“Yes,” I said. “That’s exactly what I had in mind. You’re sweet and I love you. Can you read my mind?”

I think to myself that I may be too predictable…

I kissed him on his head, and he was gone.
