The weather has been amazing this week. Summer has arrived in Bavaria – finally, after nine months of dull grey fog. Because of this exceptional weather, a couple of colleagues suggested to go for dinner together in a local Biergarten. The last time I did something with a larger group of colleagues was in the summer of 2020 when covid was at very low levels. Ever since I have been avoiding larger groups in closed spaces – for obvious reasons. Although I’m a big fan of my little family, life becomes quite isolated when all your social life is with your family. I’m quite introverted, and need my alone time, but being introverted doesn’t mean antisocial. I do like a laugh and a good conversation. So the good weather and the outdoor environment for today’s dinner made for a very tempting offer, which I happily took.
It felt great to be among like-minded people, talking about other than the usual ‘how’s your project?’ kind of chat. With topics ranging from where to get the best cocktails to the whys and hows of penis tattoos, there was a lot to laugh. I also discovered that some people have very exceptional talents. Useless talents for sure, but the fun kind. Work was rarely mentioned, and certainly not by me.
It’s nice to realize that there are many fun and social souls around me. For me, the summer cannot last long enough.
