The wait

Waiting, waiting, waiting. As I’m sitting here waiting, without much else to do, I might as well churn out a post, and finish my blog for the day early.

I’m probably in the least inspiring area I could imagine: a roadside parking lot close to some horrible business hotels close to the Munich Messe Eventcenter. It’s absolutely horrible here, a mixture between post-2000s German architecture, concrete, iron and glass facades, albeit the weather is awfully nice – warm and sunny – exactly how I like it.

The antithesis of inspiration

Despite the lack of beauty in these surroundings, I’m excited. Very excited!

Why, you ask?

Well, there’s this Italian woman I’m meeting in one of these horrible hotels.

I’m not convinced either. To be honest, I’m just guessing she’s a woman by the name I got. Might as well be a dude. I could live with that.

The reason I meet up with the person is that it’s a reputable breeder of the kind of snakes I love and keep. (Don’t ask. I’m one of those types with weird hobbies, and have spent too much of my life defending my hobbies. Accept, and let me be me.) The snakes I already reserved about six months ago, but as this breeder is located in the southern part of Italy, it’s not exactly around the corner.

Conveniently for me, however, Munich happens to lie exactly en route for them on their way to the Netherlands where there will be a big reptile fair this weekend. Even more convenient, they would even stay in Munich for the night, so the pickup would be especially convenient.

So yes. I’m in an ugly place, where I wouldn’t want to be found dead, but in this very moment, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be. I feel like a kid in a candy store!

Only twenty minutes left to kill. Maybe I should do some sightseeing…
