These two are plotting to drive us crazy!

Today was the first day that we could finally get outside. The kids were more or less recovered from their illnesses. The weather was great. Time to go outside. We drove to the Chiemgauer Alpen, close to Kampenwand. A beautiful area. Crazy traffic aside, it seemed to all go smoothly. However, from the moment we arrived, the kids started alternating in insane mode. Nothing was right. When one was quiet, the other started crying. So much fun… Kids. So that was a completely useless and frustrating afternoon. To make matters worse, when we finally arrived back at our car to drive back, we found out that there were crazy traffic jams. All the home-bound ski holiday tourists that were desperate to find snow, but instead found a 15 degree centigrade southern wind blowing through the Alps, melting everything in its path. I’m not sure there’s much snow to ski on anywhere. It’s bizarre to see places that had 50+ cm of snow two weeks ago, were now green fields again. I’m not sure this is how it’s supposed to be this time of the year… Anyway, I digress. We took a no highway detour to home, and easily avoided all the traffic jams. This was the moment where I got the much needed calm of the day. Both kids and their mother seemed to be either napping, or pretending to. Now that I finally got time and peace to hear my own thoughts and feel my own body, I realized that I’m getting sick again. At the same time, a thick carpet of grey clouds came rolling in, and from what it looks like they will soak Bavaria in more rain, or maybe snow if the temperatures decrease some. This is for sure the worst Christmas break ever. I hate to say it, but I’m completely exhausted and kinda looking forward to starting work again…
