For those of you that have spent your days worried that we were devoured by a pack of hungry whispering wood orcs: do not despair. We’re safe. For those of you that were hoping that we were: I have to disappoint. We’re still there.
Yesterday’s parking spot turned out to be quiet and safe. This morning I inspected what I expect to be the whispering in the woods, which some reviewers of the camper lot complained about. A lot of intense buzzing came from these woods. It turned out that many of the tree trunks were overgrown with Ivy, which are now all in bloom, and an excellent resource for flower-associated insects. The buzzing is probably mostly caused by the honeybees from one of the local and abundant bee keepers, but the optimistic ecologist in me hopes that there was enough food for some of the wilder native bees.

We have resumed our trip and have now arrived in a rainy, cloudy Lago Maggiore. We have met our friends here, and have had a lot of fun already. Not sure about tomorrow’s plans, but I expect I’ll go for a shower, then a coffee first thing in the morning. Other than that, we’ll try to follow the weather and do what it permits us to.
Now I’m off to sleep. Can barely keep my eyes open. Goodnight!
