It’s been long enough

My wife and I were struggling a bit. Somehow, we couldn’t find our rest or routine so well inside the house in the past days. We are outdoor people, and this recovery time after the birth of our daughter was tough. Not just on Heike, or on me, but also on our son Rafa. It must be weird for him too to be inside this much. We usually try to go outside as much as possible. I did go outside with him, but it’s different when you’re somehow chained to your own home.

Today Heike felt really good. So this morning we decided to take the camper for a ride. Our first real trip outside since we’re a family of four. We didn’t go very far, and we didn’t spend the night, but we just cruised around a bit, while the kids were asleep in the back. Then we took a stroll through a tiny town, and had a coffee close to the river Vils. It wasn’t much, but it felt like a great day out. The big bonus was that Rafa got almost normal levels of attention and got to run around outside and explore, so he was happier than ever.

We love our Nugget camper van. It gives so much freedom and all the convenience you need with two little ones. At the end of the day today, we decided that on Monday, we will find a nice and quiet campsite not too far from here, and we’ll enjoy a couple of days away from home. It’s about time! It will be a practice run for our longer trip late August. I can’t wait!
