I’m taking a little break. Like literally! I’m sitting in my car, parked along the side of some back road, under the shade of some friendly birch trees.
I thought I had gotten quite good at prepping the little one for an afternoon nap. For months on end it went very well. I would usually just lie in bed besides him, and leave when he was snoring – which was often within ten minutes. Those days are over, since the younger sibling has arrived. For the past week, I have tried different versions of stories, and usually ended Hulk Hogan style, wrestling with him, while still trying to make him laugh. I don’t want to traumatize him. Anyway, none of it would work.
I did notice that he fell asleep every time I drove with him to a supermarket. So today, after an unsuccessful thirty minutes in bed, I decided to try a new approach. The afternoon camper nap. I put him in his car seat. I just drove for literally two minutes and I see him doze off in the rearview mirror. That little bastard! All that’s left was finding a nice spot to park undisturbed, and where I could look at some trees or whatever.

I think this will be my new afternoon break. It’s actually quite relaxing, and I get all the time I need to write a blog post. I think I may make a coffee. (I love my campervan)
(Sorry for the clickbait title. You didn’t seriously believe I would take a break from writing, did you?)
